Funk Rating: 8 out of 10
This is a provocative book. I can just imagine all the hand-wringing and emotional laden conversation this book may cause inside schools and inside homes. Carefully researched, but written in everyday prose that is very approachable, this book will make you re-think how you interact with kids. Infants, toddlers, elementary school, even high-schoolers.
Po and Ashley have done us all a great service by challenging our thinking. By showing research conclusions and not just spouting opinion. It's fact based, and I enjoyed it very much. My only complaint is that it's almost too short. I would have loved a few more suggestions and end-of-chapter Cliff Notes that give concrete suggestions of how to implement some of what they discovered and communicated. Not a recipe per se, but some exercises/experiments to try at home...
I think I'm actually going to read it again and take some notes. There's no doubt this book can help me in my relationship with my kids...
