Funk Rating: 10 out of 10
WOW! As you know, I read for fun. I seldom enjoy "business" books (usually because I find they're trumped up magazine articles or research papers). But I liked this one a lot. It's fun, provocative, and I learned more than I expected.
This is a fascinating book that talks about our ability to make snap judgments, how do we just "know" something that we haven't done a deep dive with? Why are first impressions so often the right impressions? How does our world view (including stereotypes and prior reference points) shape our interpretation of things? Why does the packaging on a product become so critical to our actual experience with the product (to say nothing about our willingness to buy it)?
Great stuff in here -- probably worth a 2nd read next month just to let it all soak in and figure out what the implications are for both my life and for my latest venture...
I thank my very good friend, Jeffrey Horn, for shoving this in my bag a while ago. I recommend you shove it in your bag and read it soon...
